One of the authors of the family law act and a survivor of the Sydney Family Court bombings in the 1980s has died.
Justice Ray Watson, 87, was a key draftsman of the no-fault family law act introduced in 1975.
His daughter Rose Parkin says he did not resile from his big vision.
“He wanted to give people dignity and self respect and introduce a system that was far more humane,” she said.
Mr Watson survived a kamikaze attack on HMAS Australia in 1944.
Forty years later, as Justice Ray Watson, he survived a bomb attack on his home which killed his wife Pearl.
The bombing was part of a series of attacks on the Family Court which killed one judge and injured two.
Ms Parkin says her father did not dwell on the perpetrators never being charged as he was not a man of vengeance.
